Sprouting from Australia’s Gold Coast- the Mecca of World Surf Champions- College of Surfing has taken the expertise, experience & passion of the best surf school operators to form the ultimate training pathway.

Since the College of Surfing is lead by a network of the best surf school operators you know what you learn at College of Surfing is what the Surfing Education & Training Industry wants!

College of Surfing is a Registered Training Organisation currently offering training and assessment for Surfing Instructors, Surfing Guides, Competitive Surfers, Developing Surfers and Beginning Surfers.

The training is conducted under the Australian Quality Training Framework’s (AQTF) partial or complete Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation (Multiple Activities) SRO30306.

The College of Surfing also offers partial or complete qualifications for Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation SRO20206, and Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation SRO40206.

The current framework through which these qualifications are offered are through the following
AQTF Accredited Programs:-

Ocean Careers Pathway Program
-10 day Pre-vocational training course
Ocean Confidence
- 8hr course for non-accredited training or 48hrs for Accredited Training
Surfer Survival
- 16hr course for non-accredited training or 68hrs for - Accredited Training
Surfer Development
- 20hr non-accredited training or 72hrs for Accredited Training
Surfing Rescue & Emergency Response
- 12hrs with RCC or 75hrs Accredited Training with optional 32 hr First Aid & Emergency O2
Assistant Surfing Coach
- 30 hrs Accredited Training with optional 25hrs Vocational Training
Surfing Guide
- 47hr Accredited Training Program with eligibility to be Registered as a Surfing Guide under the National Outdoor Leaders Registration Scheme
Surfing Instructor
- 48hr Accredited Training Program with eligibility to be Registered as a Surfing Instructor (Basic to Intermediate) under the National Outdoors Leaders Registration Scheme
Advanced Surfing Rescue
- 45hrs Accredited Training additional to Surfing Rescue & Emergency Response
Surf Camp Leader
- 72hrs in Addition to Surfing Instructor / Guide
Advanced Surfing Instructor
- 8hr RPL process to gain Registration as an Advanced Surfing Instructor under NOLRS

The courses are offered to fee-for-services students as short courses or complete qualifications in the Certificates II, III, IV in Outdoor Recreation.

The Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation is a 620hr course that is Approved for Austudy, Approved by the New South Wales Board of Studies, and provides Queensland High School Students with 7 of their 20 QCE points- giving them an O.P Equivalent Ranking of a 9-11. The College of Surfing has an approved Vocational Placement Scheme for 240hrs for the Certificate III students.

With the College of Surfing Qualifications you can become registered with the National Outdoor Leader Recognition Scheme as a Professional Surfing Guide or Surfing Instructor.
