Coxswain

Prepare for a life at sea! This program will help you to find work on board commercial vessels operating in areas up to coastal, as defined by the Uniform Shipping Laws (USL) Code. This program builds on the Certificate I program and provides you with the skills required to obtain a Coxswain ticked.

Successful completion allows you to undertake oral examinations with Maritime Safety Queensland for the issue of a Certificate of Competency as a Coxswain under Queensland legislation. Coxswains can take charge of commercial vessels less than 12 metres in length and fishing vessels up to 15 metres in length in certain areas of Queensland waters.
